Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026

Psyche is a reflection and coaching tool built around private conversation. Privacy isn't a feature we added — it's the reason the product can work at all. This page explains plainly what we collect, why, and what we never do.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, and your name if you provide it. Sign-in is by email link or Google — we never see or store a password.
  • Your conversations and assessment responses: stored so your coaching can be continuous and personal to you.
  • Plan and usage information: which plan you're on and daily message counts, to apply your plan's limits.
  • Referral information: if you share Psyche, we track sign-ups from your link so you can be rewarded.
  • Your API key: stored securely so Psyche can run on your behalf. You can remove it any time.

How your conversations are processed

When you interact with Psyche — by text, and by voice — your messages are processed by our AI providers to generate replies. Text is processed by Anthropic under your own API key; voice is processed by Google (Gemini) for real-time speech. We only use providers under terms where your conversations are not used to train their models. Because you bring your own key, your text conversations run under your own provider account. Your conversations are never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never read by a human at Psyche except when you explicitly send one to us in a support or feedback request.

Voice

When you speak to Psyche, your speech is processed in real time to produce a transcript and a spoken reply. Audio is processed as it happens and is not stored — only the resulting text is kept as part of your conversation.

Where data lives

Account data, conversations, and assessment results are stored with Supabase, our database provider, using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Payments (when available) are handled by Paddle — we never see or store your card details.

What we never do

  • No selling of personal data — to anyone, ever.
  • No advertising trackers in the app.
  • No third-party AI training — your conversations are never used by our AI providers or anyone else to train their models.
  • No reading your conversations, except as described above.

How Psyche improves

We review patterns in how Psyche performs — where conversations help and where they fall short — to improve our own coaching engine. Where practical we use aggregated or de-identified information for this. This work stays inside Psyche: it makes your coach better, and is never shared or sold.

Your choices

  • Export or deletion: email us at hello@psyche.ai to request a copy of your data or full deletion of your account and conversations. Deletion is permanent.
  • Ambience & preferences: stored on your device, not our servers.

Psyche is based in New Zealand and handles your information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, and you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. Where you're in another region, additional laws (such as the GDPR) may give you further rights.

Important limits

Psyche is a reflection tool, not therapy or crisis care. If a conversation suggests you may be in crisis, we show support options — we do not contact anyone on your behalf.

Children

Psyche is for adults. It is not directed at, and must not be used by, anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new date, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app.
